Gumnaam Movie Review




Gumnaam (pronounced [ɡʊm.nɑːm], translation: Unknown or Anonymous) is a 1965 Indian Bollywood thriller film directed by Raja Nawathe, starring Manoj Kumar, Nanda, Pran, Helen and Mehmood. The film is a loosely-inspired adaptation of the 1939 mystery novel And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. It was remade in Tamil as Naalai Unathu Naal.


The film follows the story of eight people who win a trip to a foreign country, but their plane is forced to land on an unknown island. There, they find a mansion where a mysterious woman sings a haunting song. They soon discover that they are all connected to a crime and that someone is killing them one by one. The film is full of suspense, mystery, comedy and music.

The Songs and Music




The film has six songs composed by ShankarJaikishan and written by Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri. The songs are:

  • Gham Chhodke Manao Rang: A festive song sung by Lata Mangeshkar and picturised on the entire cast.



  • Pike Hum Tum Jo Chale: A duet song sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammed Rafi and picturised on Manoj Kumar and Nanda.
